Portraits and Headshots by The Portrait Kitchen

Welcome to The Portrait Kitchen. My name is Jon Busby and I am a portrait and personal brand photographer.

We are all familiar with the expression “you only get one chance to make a first impression.”  If you are looking for new clients, think how critical it is to get a good portrait in place to make sure you are making that excellent first impression.

When you plan to meet with new clients, do not assume this will be the first time they have seen your face. With the increasing use of business social media, everyone can check out each other before the first face to face meeting. A poor quality corporate portrait (badly lit, poorly composed, shot as a selfie etc) will leave a negative impression, so why risk it?

What I offer goes beyond the traditional headshot. My goal is to create portraits that promote you, your story and your brand.

I create a visual connection between my clients and their audience so they engage. Portraits are part of your digital signature so getting it done well is important.

I always start with a free discovery call. This helps my client explain what they want to achieve. It also allows me to bring suggestions. Probably the most common thing that is said to I me at a shoot is “I hate having my photo taken.” Music to my ears because I want to photograph you in a way that makes you feel positive about yourself.

I shoot from a number of studios across the country. These are large spaces with lots of sets created to provide very individual, bespoke images.

When I take a portrait I want to trigger some key responses from the viewer, your client. Depending on my client brief I usually present my sitter as empathetic, approachable and knowledgeable.

If required I can also provide a make up artist to help you with your look and ensure you feel confident in front of the camera.

To help you prepare for your portrait or headshot session you can download my free “What To Wear At A Portrait Shoot” prep sheet.

The main reason that I enjoy taking portraits is seeing the confidence of my client grow during a photoshoot. I am you advocate to help project your story, your confidence and your brand.

FAQ

Probably the thing I get told the most. It’s ok and quite normal to feel a little bit nervous. I have a number of techniques that will make you feel comfortable in front of the camera. My job is to put you at ease and take a great set of portraits.

Yes I do although she will need to be pre-booked. Her fee is £100 and she attends the whole photoshoot.

Yes, I lightly edit all images as part of your fee. I can also do professional retouching for a small fee of £10 per image. However, the light ending that is included is more than enough for a portrait.

You will receive all images in a secure digital album and can choose and use any or all of them.

No.

I may ask for written permission to use your portraits anonymously for marketing purposes.

I no longer offer this. I prefer to shoot at one of the studios I hire as it allows you to relax away from the office and provides many more creative composition looks.

I normally say 7-10 working days but it is usually a lot quicker than that depending on work volume.

Yes you can. Bringing a friend can help make you feel at ease. If you want to ‘double’ or ‘treble’ up with a colleague then we can work out a way to do that too.
