We believe that great hat photography creates a visual connection that positively projects your brand.

We are Jon and Anjee and our niche is hat photography.

We have been photographing hats in our kitchen for over 5 years for milliners from all over the world.

We provide a full hat photography and image design service from initial discovery call, model management, photoshoot, right through to post process editing of images.

Services

We have two service offerings; ‘Pro Studio’ and ‘Virtual Studio.’ They have been designed to suit your budget. Pricing is below.

Pro Studio is me shooting in a large warehouse loft studio in Northampronshire.

‘Virtual’ is our recent offering. We have partnered with numerous models who have their own studio and lighting. You send your hats to the studio. I dial into the shoot over Zoom and take control of the camera and lighting virtually, essentially managing the whole photographic process on your behalf. You can dial in too and provide creative input, ensure your hats are placed correctly and see the images immediately. The hats are then returned to you.

For now Virtual is only available in the UK.

More details can be found here.

We’d love you to attend because we enjoy meeting our clients. Plus you can place your hats on the model and provide creative input. You will see the images as they happen and you are welcome to make comments and suggest adjustments. You are welcome to bring a friend or partner.

Alternatively you can attend our Virtual shoots, so no travel costs.

Jon shot some of the most beautiful and striking images I have seen of my hats.  We talked on the phone before the shoot and he sent me photographs of a good selection of models.  Those we chose were all lovely and highly professional.  I decided to use a make up artist and the lady Jon introduced me to was incredibly talented and was a real asset to the shoot.

We had a busy but relaxed and laughter-filled afternoon with lots of tea and cake, and everyone was delighted with the end results.

“Anjee and Jon have a great set up that they have built in their large kitchen. It is so homely and welcoming. There is none of the fuss and formality of a large photo studio. It feels more like you are visiting friends.

Anjee is always on hand to help keep the show on the road with the models and MUA and I was encouraged to take an active part in the styling so I got exactly what I wanted.

Jon really understands how to use light with his photography to make so my hats stood out.

If you want to take your millinery to the next level with magazine quality images that you can then use for marketing I can’t recommend Jon and Anjee highly enough.”

Jon and Anjee shot product style images of several of my millinery pieces in September 2020.
At The Portrait Kitchen, by their characteristic passionate attention to detail, Jon and Anjee offer a wrap-around photographic service creating stunning portrait style images which highlight and enhance the creativity of a milliner’s work. One of Jon’s specialities is to create drama, using contrast back drops to highlight, in my case, millinery and through his clever use of lighting he appears to almost effortlessly create images that bring your product to life.
Jon edits the images he shoots and then provides a WeTransfer file of the images, in the size you require. His flexible friendly operation is characterised by huge professionalism and dedication to the his art of photography.
Thank you both so much.

The Portrait Kitchen’s ‘Ask’ session is exactly what I was looking for!
Jon was incredibly helpful sharing his experience and expertise on millinery photography. He demystifies photography in a way that anyone can understand. Jon explained in detail the technical set-up needed to create the ‘drama’ that I was looking for in my photography.
The session was packed with information, ‘golden’ advice and useful practical tips and tricks. I can highly recommend this service for anyone wanting to feel enabled in their creative work.

I always found that my millinery photographs looked dull and not very exciting, so I decided to book Jon for his one to one ‘Ask’ zoom chat. It was definitely money well spent. Jon politely told me where I was going wrong and gave me tips on how to improve my photos. I would highly recommend him to fellow milliners who are struggling in this area.
