iPhone 15 Pro Max #1 – It doesn’t look like a serious camera therefore it can’t be a serious camera.

iPhone 15 Pro Max acquired.

The iPhone’s greatest weakness, for me, is to turn that into an opportunity.

I have been DSLR with the occasional toe dip into Fuji mirrorless. The iPhone’s weakness is its inability to shoot in off-camera flash, my go to lighting set up for the last 10 years.

The 15 Pro Max changes all of that with its lenses, sensor and add-ons. Plus the numerous advantages of a smartphone that a traditional camera cannot deliver.

I can’t change the iPhone but I can change myself. So I have to relearn new lighting techniques such as natural light and even continuous.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max is typically seen as a street/landscape camera. Purists still doubt it in much the same way that digital was doubted versus film, mirrorless versus DSLR. It is less easy to find editorial level portrait and fashion photography using the latest iPhone.

There is a degree of snobbery or ignorance towards the iPhone. It doesn’t look like a serious camera therefore it can’t be a serious camera.

As creatives we adapt using the tools that we have available or can acquire. and I like working with limitations by being creative.

So this is post #1 in a new creative journey. Can the iPhone cut it?
